The transistors being printed are so unimaginably tiny (the size of a virus) that if a single, microscopic speck of human skin, dust, or a stray hair lands on the silicon wafer during printing, it acts like a massive boulder crashing through a city, completely destroying the billion-dollar microchip. The entire industry is an obsessive, relentless war against microscopic contamination, requiring "Cleanrooms" where the air is filtered to contain zero particles. '''The Wall of the Physics''': Moore's Law is dying. For 50 years, engineers just kept making the transistors smaller. But we have reached the fundamental bottom of the physical universe. Modern 3-nanometer transistors are so thin that the walls separating the "On" and "Off" state are only a few atoms thick. When walls are that thin, classical physics breaks down, and Quantum Mechanics takes over. The electrons simply "Quantum Tunnel" right through the closed wall. The switch leaks electricity. It generates massive heat. You cannot shrink a transistor smaller than an atom.
